The May long weekend (Majówka) is a hugely popular time for getaways and exploring the charming corners of our country. In the text below, we'll show you what's happening in and around Poznań, and prove exactly why it's the perfect destination for your trip.
Right off the bat, it's worth reminding you that May 1st and 3rd are public holidays in Poland. However, most facilities, like museums, operate as usual. Exceptions include the Genius Loci Archaeological Reserve, the Museum of the Greater Poland Uprising, the Museum of Armaments, and the Museum of "Poznan" Army, which will be closed on Friday. The rest of the must-see spots on Poznań's tourist map - such as the Porta Posnania (Brama Poznania), the Town Hall - Museum of Poznań, the National Museum, the Royal Castle, the ZAMEK Culture Centre, and many more will remain open to visitors.
During this weekend, we obviously can't forget about Poznań's beloved Maltanka Train. This narrow-gauge park railway is one of the city's most popular attractions. It runs from the Śródka Roundabout, past the Malta Thermal Baths, all the way to the New Zoo. Throughout the entire long weekend, it will be running from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, departing every half hour.
