Halszka’s Keep is a late-Gothic tower built in 17th century and it was incorporated in the ramparts of the former castle. It owes its name to Duchess Elżbieta Ostrogska, called Halszka. In the 16th century, at the decree of king Zygmunt August, she was to be married to Łukasz III Górka against her will. According to legend, he locked her in the tower for 14 years, putting a black metal mask on her face. Today, the tower houses a museum with a collection of religious icons among its exhibits.
