PLOT presented the annual results of tourism surveys conducted since 2012 as part of the Poznań Tourism Barometer. The total number of people visiting Poznań is estimated at 4.03 million, including 968 thousand who stayed overnight. This data comes from Selectivv, a company that monitors mobile phone traffic. The occupancy rate of Poznań hotels reached 63.4% in 2023 (data from the STR company), which is the highest result in history. Before the pandemic, in 2019, it was 60.8%. These figures are confirmed by data from the Central Statistical Office, which reported 1.39 million overnight stays sold in Poznań in 2023.
Among foreign tourists, the majority were from Germany (21%), the United States (15%), and the United Kingdom (11%). Noteworthy are the high increases in arrivals of tourists from Italy (an increase of 32%) and Spain (an increase of 41%).
In 2023, Poznań tourist attractions and museums achieved very good results. The most popular attraction was Malta Thermal Baths, which was visited by 2.11 million people. The New Zoo welcomed 417 thousand visitors, the Old Zoo 337 thousand, and the Palm House 260 thousand. The most popular museums were the National Museum in Poznań with attendance of 134 thousand people, followed by the Museum of Applied Arts (127 thousand), and the National Museum of Agriculture and Food Industry in Szreniawa (102 thousand).
PLOT also announced the cooperation with MasterCard and joining the MasterCard Tourism Innovation Hub, which will soon result in very detailed data on tourist spending in Poznań. Today we know that visitors account for 35% of all spending in the city, with Americans spending the most per visit, a total of 271 euros per person.
