Long Night of Museums 2026 in Poznań and surrounding area
Sightseeing and accompanying attractions in a nighttime edition for free or a nominal fee. All of this is coming up on May 16th.

The Long Night of Museums is a truly special celebration for Poznań. It was right here back in 2003 that the National Museum decided to open its doors to visitors after dark - the very first time this happened in Poland. Over the years, other cities jumped on the bandwagon, and today it's a nationwide tradition.

This year’s lineup is absolutely packed. A whopping 89 museums and organizations have joined the event. In most places entrance is completely free, though keep in mind that a few specific events require prior registration. To check out the full program, head over to the official Long Night of Museums website (in Polish).

Meanwhile, we’ve handpicked a few activities we find exceptionally interesting, which you can drop into without signing up in advance. Still, we highly recommend browsing the complete, hour-by-hour schedule (PDF file).

Poznań

Only in Poznań, we have 78 cultural institutions to choose from. Here are some events definitely worth checking out:

Gallery of Painting and Sculpture

Over at the Gallery of Painting and Sculpture, an engaging scavenger hunt will be running all evening, challenging visitors to find hidden elements across the exhibitions. The game is available in both Polish and English, and you can jump in whenever you like. Exclusively for the Long Night of Museums, there will also be a unique exhibition of vintage Polish People's Republic (PRL) posters and postcards focused on road safety and driving etiquette. After taking in the collection, you can test your knowledge in a themed quiz. For those who like to get hands-on, there are cylinder seal-making workshops on the agenda.

Museum of Musical Instruments

The Museum of Musical Instruments will host a premiere recital on the oldest piano built in Poznań - crafted by Heinrich Droste back in 1840. This first post-restoration performance will be paired with a brief lecture on the history of piano making in the Poznań region.

Royal Castle - Museum of Applied Arts

The Museum of Applied Arts at the Royal Castle in Poznań is going all in on edutainment. Right at the entrance, you can grab a challenge card to track down fantastic creatures hidden among the museum exhibits.

Greater Poland Military Museum

Throughout the entire event, the Greater Poland Military Museum will have uniforms and weapon replicas (both melee and firearms) available for visitors to try on and snap a memorable souvenir photo.

Royal-Imperial Route

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Royal-Imperial Route has prepped a themed walking tour guiding history buffs through the city's past, focusing specifically on the impact and activities of women in Poznań.

Archaeological Museum

The Archaeological Museum is bringing history to life with reenactor stands, games, and historical costumes. There's also an art station where you can get a temporary tattoo made from natural dyes, featuring historical symbols.

Museum of Armoured Weapons

Over at the Museum of Armoured Weapons, expect to see historical reenactments of both the Polish Army and WWII-era German units. On top of that, the museum invites you to dive into the nostalgia of Szarik and the crew with a talk on the iconic TV series "Czterej pancerni i pies," followed by a communal screening of one of the episodes.

Museum of Poznań Bambers

Dedicated to the history of these German settlers, the museum has prepared a live demonstration of how to don their highly characteristic, traditional attire. Plus, at the Museum of Poznań Bambers, you can catch a guided tour of the permanent exhibition -delivered entirely in the local Poznań dialect.

Around Poznań

The Long Night of Museums magic isn't confined to the city limits. So, what’s waiting for visitors just outside of town?

Rogalin Palace and Museum

The event organizers at the Palace and Museum in Rogalin are inviting kids to some truly unique workshops. They're promising one-of-a-kind attractions in a remarkable setting where kids can let their creativity run wild, though the exact theme will be kept as a top-secret surprise until the very end.

Kórnik Castle

Kórnik Castle is throwing its gates open in the evening for guided tours. Visitors will be guided through chambers steeped in the history of the Działyński and Zamojski families by staff from the Kórnik Library, which just happens to be celebrating its 200th anniversary this year.

History and Art Centre in Swarzędz

History and Art Centre in Swarzędz - a museum heavily focused on the local history of furniture making, will be complementing its permanent exhibition with a documentary screening on the brilliant artistry of the Polish School of Posters.

You can find these and plenty of other attractions for the 2026 Long Night of Museums, along with all the details, on the organizer's official website.
